It is with deep regret that we are announcing that the 16th Annual Evening of Hope, scheduled for Thursday, April 23, 2020 is being cancelled. Securing the health and well-being of our community and beyond should be our highest priority right now. As we step into this new reality, let’s stay motivated towards our goals and mission. Please stay well and protect others who are more vulnerable than we are. We will get through this together.


  • We encourage everyone to continue supporting our mission, and we will still be accepting donations towards the Evening of Hope.
  • We will reach out to all current donors and sponsors to ask them if they will elect to receive a refund or to donate their funds. If you wish for your donation/sponsorship to be refunded, please reach out to Wendy Chromoga If you elect to donate the funds we will reissue your tax letter, so that 100 percent of your contribution will be tax-deductible.


Please join us on Thursday, April 23, 2020 to honor Mark S. Wrighton, PhD, at the 16th Annual Evening of Hope.

Dr. Wrighton just concluded his term as 14th Chancellor of Washington University in St. Louis. He has served in this role since 1995. Dr. Wrighton has overseen a period of tremendous growth in the university’s national and global reputation and will be receiving the Spirit of Hope Award for his outstanding support of neurological research.  

We will also be honoring the memory of our founder, Jean Maritz Hobler, who passed away on November 15, 2019. Jean leaves behind an incredible legacy of leadership and generosity and will always be remembered for her thoughtfulness, graciousness, and kindness.

Josh and Laura Reinert will be chairing our gala. A special Thank You to Josh and Laura and their hard working committee, whose leadership will ensure another spectacular evening.

Entertainment will be provided by veteran St. Louis jazz singer Anita Jackson in the perfect acoustics of the Sheldon Concert Hall.

Sponsors of the 16th Annual Evening of Hope will receive a dinner table for ten, tickets to the concert, and admission to a dessert reception with the artist. In addition, sponsors will be recognized on the invitation, the evening’s program, social media, and other publicity for this event. Sponsorship is available at various levels, starting at $2,500.

Tickets begin at $250 each and include access to the entire evening. A paddle-raise conducted by David Goodman of Auction Results LLC will be held to benefit collaborative research at the Hope Center.
